It is good to see blue skies and actual sunshine this morning after a Thanksgiving holiday weekend of repeated snowstorms.

My third plan for commuting (post-Snowpocalypse) to work today appears to be successful. Logistical lessons learned.

Prepping for the pending Snocpocalypse.

According to the weather forecast, this may be the last day of green(-ish) grass and snow-free bike path that we’ll see before next spring.

Grand Rounds Trail, Columbia Park, Minneapolis

Nobody home. Waite Park, Minneapolis

No dawdling on yesterday’s evening walk; the “feels like” temperature was just a little above 20 degrees.

I may enjoy using my label maker a bit too much.

Ollie the dog and I discovered the Bridge of Dreams hiding in Webber Park, Minneapolis.

Hello Office 2011 for Mac. I remember you, and your repeatedly corrupting Entourage database. I do miss these giant third-party manuals. I would purchase them regularly, read them rarely.

Another workplace warehouse discovery; an opened, and no doubt long forgotten, box containing a Doggie Dooley. It looks to be a sort of septic tank exclusively for dog poop.

And unlike Suburban Dad on the Quickrete bag, this Suburban Dad is considerably less stoked to scoop the poop. He should also check out the health of that tree in his back yard; it’s not looking too good.

Who knew replacing a simple toilet seat would require several hours of my Sunday?

It’s starting to get chilly…

Enjoying my commute, even with a bit of early-season snow.

Winter has arrived at the picnic tables.

BNSF Engine 9907 has been sitting at the front of the line since late summer; let’s see how long that lasts. Then ten-year-old train nerd in me wants to know what type of engine that is (the paint scheme looks like it was originally a AT&SF locomotive).

That’s a lot of gold tones and blue for a chilly Minnesota morning.

Today is not a good day for a picnic in Minnesota; the wind chill temperature at noon is 1 degree Fahrenheit.

Public Service Announcement: remember to regularly empty your wet/dry vacuum and clean your filter. Otherwise you’ll end up with a mess like this.

Trying out the inherited snow roof rake. The fifteen feet of extensions reached even the furthest leaves. This is our first Minnesota house and I plan to be extra vigilant protecting the roof from the mysterious (to me anyway) ice dams.

Suburban Dad looks so stoked to be able to get his decorative post firmly planted in his front yard.

“Set Posts Without Mixing!”

The abandoned woodlot trailer; a native species of Minnesota.

We both needed a break after spending most of the day catching up on the post-vacation email backlog.

Time on the beach with a stoked dog makes up for the lack of any surfable waves.
